We've been in a flurry of activity over here at the fidelis labs. We (Kristen and I) have been learning about more productive ways to give in our lives. I'm not looking for any sort of philosophical discussion on this, but i do welcome it. Across the board most everyone, from the impoverished to the uber-wealthy, agree that the best form of charity is an education. Teach a man to fish, right? Lemonade Day is just that, it is teaching and encouraging entrepreneurship in children. Local businesses are donating massive amounts of time and money for promotional materials, learning workbooks, and general sponsorship of these kids.
The idea is this, simply teach kids to run a business. From very the simple, "hey, make some lemonade for people on your street." to the more complex, "hey, raise some capital, control your inventory, create a unique recipe and manage your income" Lemonade day gets kids interested in doing for themselves and their community.
We had the privileged of being asked to donate our time and skills in a more specific way. The biggest challenge they have in their first year of lemonade day BC-S was just getting people interested. So, we got to shoot some lemon oriented photobooth!!! This was a blast to shoot. Cases and cases of very sour treats, tons of charitable adults and some very cute kids made this shoot for us. We got to shoot some bigger names in our area including the mayor of college station, the head of the ISD, and several local entrepreneurs. Also, a puppy. What's not to love?
