About a month ago, we had the privileged of taking some bridal pictures of Kayla Dickson (now Howell!!!) Of course we couldn't show the pictures to the world because the world was chock full of a fiance who hadn't gotten to see her in her dress yet. Just so full. Consequently, we have been sitting on these pictures for....ev...er.
A little about the shoot; We had been out to Rock Lake Ranch for Sarah's Bridal shoot and also for Nic and Sarah's wedding. Loved it. And, since, Kayla was getting married in a church and the reception was at her grandparents still-unfinished-house we had a decision to make. To us, Kayla seemed more like the modern-country bride (which is what we at Fidelis love so much). Thus immediately we thought of Rock Lake Ranch. If you haven't gotten out there to talk to the family that runs it, and maybe you have some sort of event coming up (e.g. weddings, reunions, corporate hot-tubbing retreat, whatever) it is a pleasure talking to these folks. For instance, while we are out there with Kayla, trying to stay out of the way of the wedding rehearsal that was happening on the main lawn, the owner of the venue pulls up in this beautiful, vintage, just waxed, blue pickup that was his personal pickup. Asked if we'd like to use it and what was the best way to position it for the lighting. Genius. Kayla flipped out. Kristen flipped out. and I squealed like a sorority girl during rush week. This exemplifies how fun a shoot can be when everything is just clicking perfectly (no pun intended).
We hope you like these pictures. Be on the lookout for Drew and Kayla's wedding post coming soon!
